Prickly Ice is bringing its cactus-shaped, hand-shaved snow to Scottsdale in Summer 2027. Here's everything we can share so far.

Why Scottsdale and shaved ice belong together

This is the cactus's natural habitat, so opening here feels like coming home. In a place where summer afternoons routinely clear 110°F, a frozen dessert shaped like the toughest plant in the desert isn't just cute — it's the smartest thing you can hold in your hand. Prickly pear, the fruit that grows right on the cactus pad, has been a Sonoran Desert staple for centuries.

Scottsdale is hot, dry and gloriously sunny, with a walkable arts district in Old Town, a buzzy Waterfront, and desert-luxe sprawl to the north. It's a city that lives outdoors once the sun drops — patios, galleries and golden-hour strolls — and a cooling treat is the perfect companion to all of it.

We want to land somewhere you're already spending your warm afternoons. Right now we're looking hardest at Old Town, the Waterfront and North Scottsdale — and the final address will go to our email list before anyone else hears it.

Flavors born for Scottsdale

Our Scottsdale menu is a love letter to the Sonoran Desert: fuchsia prickly-pear snow that tastes like watermelon and bubblegum, ripe mango, crisp watermelon and a squeeze of lime to keep it bright. A dusting of Tajín or a swirl of chamoy is always an option — this is the Southwest, after all.

What makes the Scottsdale shop special

Our Arizona home base is built around a golden-hour patio, styled with marigold-bright bowls and real desert light. It's designed to be the place you escape the heat at 3pm and linger past sunset. Every bowl is fluffy hand-shaved snow, sculpted into a smiling little cactus and buried in fresh fruit — prickly on the outside, sweet and soft inside.

Do you use real prickly pear?

Yes — prickly pear (the fruit of the cactus, also called tuna) is the star of our Arizona menu. It tastes like a cross between watermelon and bubblegum and turns the snow a gorgeous fuchsia.

Is it too cold a dessert for the desert? Never, right?

Never. In Scottsdale summers, cold is the whole point. Our snow is light and refreshing rather than heavy, so it cools you down without weighing you down.
