Prickly Ice San Diego: Cactus Shaved Ice, Opening Spring 2027
Pastel parlor vibes and endless-summer snow.

Prickly Ice is bringing its cactus-shaped, hand-shaved snow to San Diego in Spring 2027. Here's everything we can share so far.
Why San Diego and shaved ice belong together
San Diego basically invented perfect weather, and when it's beach season more or less forever, frozen desserts become a daily food group. The city also has a deep, delicious raspado tradition rooted in its border culture, so a fresh-fruit shaved ice concept feels right at home here from day one.
San Diego is sunny, mild and endlessly easygoing, from the craft-and-coffee energy of North Park to the murals and Mexican-food heritage of Barrio Logan to the sea-cliff strolls of La Jolla. It's a city built for walking somewhere pretty with something cold in hand.
The neighborhoods we're scouting
We want to land somewhere you're already spending your warm afternoons. Right now we're looking hardest at North Park, Barrio Logan and La Jolla β and the final address will go to our email list before anyone else hears it.
Flavors born for San Diego
Our San Diego menu tastes like an endless summer: bright passionfruit, mellow coconut, ripe strawberry and zippy calamansi. It's fruit-forward and sunshiny, with a nod to the chamoy-and-TajΓn raspado tradition for anyone who likes a little sweet-heat.
What makes the San Diego shop special
Our California parlor leans pastel and sunny β think palm-tree light, mint-and-blush tones, and a photogenic corner made for exactly the kind of afternoon San Diego does best. Every bowl is fluffy hand-shaved snow, sculpted into a smiling little cactus and buried in fresh fruit β prickly on the outside, sweet and soft inside.
Exact address and opening day are still being finalized. Join the list below and you'll be the very first to know β plus the first 100 friends get a free mini Desert Flight on opening day.
San Diego shaved ice: your questions
When does Prickly Ice open in San Diego?
San Diego is our very first location β the parlor is planned to open in Spring 2027. Join the list for the exact date.
Where in San Diego will the shop be?
We're considering North Park, Barrio Logan and La Jolla. Our email subscribers will get the final address first.
How is this different from a raspado?
We love raspados β San Diego's fresh-fruit, chamoy-swirled shaved ice tradition is a big inspiration. Prickly Ice uses that same fresh-fruit spirit but shapes the fluffy snow into a cute cactus and leans into island and tropical flavors too.
Do you have dairy-free options for San Diego's plant-based crowd?
Plenty. Many of our bowls start from fruit and ice, and we plan coconut-based creamy options so plant-based friends never miss out.
